This handbook is a reference source on Estonian forms such as the singular and plural forms of nouns and adjectives or the various tense forms of verbs. It is aimed primarily at the non-native student. Estonian relies extensively on the different forms that a given word can exhibit for indicating the grammatical relationships among the words in a sentence or text. In addition to all of the many forms that a given word has, there are a number of different ways to derive the forms. These are usually dependent on the word itself. Thus, word forms and how they are derived are crucial to a good knowledge of Estonian.
