The author reveals the life of her mother, Violette Szabo, who was an SOE agent during WWII. On her 2nd mission she was captured by the Germans, interrogated, tortured and executed. She was the 2nd woman to be awarded the George Cross and was immortalised in the film "Carve Her Name With Pride".
