The drama follows two young girls, Elena (Elisa Del Genio/Margherita Mazzucco) and Lila (Ludovica Nasti/Gaia Girace), as they come of age in an impoverished and violent district of 1950s Naples. In their dangerous and male-dominated neighbourhood, the girls forge an enduring friendship that continues into their teenage years, as they each strive to prolong their education.
