This album is about Estonia, one of the Baltic states of the USSR. It is not a large republic (you could drive around it in a day) and it has the smallest population of all the Soviet republics. Yet the role Estonia plays in Soviet life bears no relation to the size of its population or surface area. For the genius of a nation to develop fully in all its complexity a certain social and economic basis is needed. The Estonians themselves laid this foundation forty years ago when they elected to build a socialist society, as Valter Klauson, Chairman of the Estonian Council of Ministers, describes in his introductory article to the album.
