On the 28th June 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated in Sarajevo. This collection of 25 essays seeks to understand how each of the countries that signed the peace treaty at Versailles had come to be there on the 28th June 1919, exactly five years after that fateful day in Sarajevo.
