The Beginner's Guide to Upholstery

Take your love of fabric to the next level and transform your home with this bright and accessible book for upholstery newcomers. The Beginner’s Guide to Upholstery takes you gently by the hand and shows you the simple techniques you need to take the leap into DIY upholstery. Far from being a dry, technical, traditional upholstery manual, this beginner-friendly book presents 10 achievable upholstery and re-upholstery projects using modern materials and methods. In jargon-free, plain-English terms, talented upholsterer and workshop teacher Vicky Grubb takes you step-by-step through the process of upholstering desirable pieces of furniture found at antique markets, street sales and thrift stores, which are all upcycled and given a modern twist. Projects range from a simple stool, vintage sewing box, and blanket box to a fluted headboard, Danish dining chair, patchwork armchair and a mid-century sofa, all guided by the author’s down-to-earth instruction. Alongside each project, you can also watch Vicky upholstering each item in a series of unique time-lapse videos.
